To win: Destroy your opponent’s Command Centre

In STARCRAFT 18, players amass an army to overwhelm their opponent. In this turn-based, 2 player 18 card deckbuilding game, your army attacks each turn. Afterwards,  you choose from a pool of cards to improve your standing.

SETUP:

Each player takes a Command Centre, with Level 1 facing them. It is to be placed on the player’s leftmost side. Next, take all of the 1* cards (indicated by * on the back), shuffle them, and put them in a pile face-down and accessible by both players. Do the same in a separate pile for the 2* cards (indicated ** on the back).

PLAYER’S TURN:

During your turn, you play in two distinct phases, and then end your turn.

  1. Resolution Phase — you deal out your army, and resolve it.
  2. Purchasing Phase — you upgrade your army or command centre.

RESOLUTION PHASE:

  1. Players shuffle any units in their Purchase Pile in to their Army Deck.
  2. Players draw cards from their Army Deck to a line next to their Command Centre. You play a card this way for each (SUPPLY) your Command Centre generates. You must play all cards in a left-to-right sequence from your Command Centre. Units remain in play unless destroyed.
  3. You may resolve your abilities, if any, in whatever order you choose.
  4. You may distribute your total attack damage to the enemy army and/or Command Centre. If you destroy an enemy unit, flip it over. You gain 1 mineral this turn for a 1* enemy destroyed, or 2 minerals for a 2* enemy destroyed. After this phase, the destroyed card is sent back to its respective shared 1* or 2* pile in the centre of the play area. 
  5. If you meet the Command Centre’s Defense with your attack power, you destroy it and win. 


PURCHASING PHASE:

  1. Add your total minerals and gas generated by your Command Centre and army. This is your total resource pool. It is not cumulative between turns. You use this resource pool to spend on cards during the PURCHASING PHASE.
  2. Draw 3 cards from the 1* pile and take them to your hand. If you have a gas, take a 2* in to your hand, as well.
  3. You can purchase a 1* card for 2 minerals. You can purchase a 2* for 5 minerals, and 1 gas.
  4. Any cards purchased are placed face-down in a Purchase Pile above your Command Centre.
  5. You may choose to LEVEL UP your Command Centre. To do this, pay the cost indicated on the Command Centre upgrade, and then rotate it to the next position: Level One, Level Two, and then Level Three.
  6. You do not keep cards in hand. Instead, return non-purchased cards to their respective Unit Level piles.

OTHER NOTES:

  • On your first turn, you can skip the Resolution Phase, as there is nothing to resolve.
  • Player two has a second-player bonus: during their first PURCHASING PHASE, they draw one additional 1* card.
  • SCVs have RECYCLE: when destroyed, they go directly to their owner’s PURCHASING PILE, instead of the shared 1* pile.
